Baby Welcoming for Rebecca and Joel

Since we were in the US when Joel was born, the ladies here wanted to do a traditional baby welcoming–coffee, traditional bread, singing, prayer, and fellowship.

The sourish bread is made on the same big clay cooker that they use for all the injera (the bread made from tef which is eaten 3x a day by Ethiopians). This doesn’t do justice to it–this cake of bread is huge, about 5 inches thick and 18 inches across.

All the ladies from the local church and our students wives came.
