Thanks to Grandpa and Grandma Howe, we enjoyed our 2nd annual Christmas swim at the Sheraton Hotel in Addis Ababa. We feel a bit like Jesus’ disciples must have in the Bible story–a bunch of country bumpkins walking into the capital and marveling at the construction of this magnificent place.
I didn’t get a good picture, but the area directly behind the marble gazebo (right) is a slum. Though there is much construction happening all around, the Sheraton feels like an artificial island in the midst of the “real world” of Addis.
The warm weather doesn’t “feel” like Christmas time, but the decorations were welcome sites!
